Traffic Guidance Scheme

Traffic Guidance Scheme

Traffic Guidance Schemes

An arrangement of temporary traffic control devices to warn traffic and guide it around, through or past a worksite or temporary hazard. A Standard Traffic Guidance Scheme will detail the location of the work and the proposed Traffic Management to maintain safe movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic through and around a worksite.

The plan will detail the location and spacing of all signage and devices, pavement markings, any containment fencing and barriers, arrow boards and/or variable message signage, and roadwork speed zones.

When do you need a Traffic Guidance Scheme?

You will require a Traffic Guidance Scheme for any works which impact the public road network or footpaths, or requires persons to be safely separated from moving vehicles.

You will require a Traffic Guidance Scheme in order to obtain permit approvals from Local Council for any works impacting roads or pedestrian traffic. Only TGSs that meet all of the Local Council Traffic Control requirements will be approved, so an inadequate Traffic Guidance Scheme will lead to your permit being denied by the council.

How does it get made?

There are several stages in the creation of a Traffic Guidance Scheme. Few of which include you, so you can let us do the planning, and you can focus on your business. Here is how a Traffic Guidance Scheme is made:

  • You tell us what work you are going to be doing and we discuss the requirements of the traffic control scenario.

  • We determine the Traffic Management requirements for the project

  • We identify the daily traffic flows (this is needed to determine the signage type and size) and whether the roadway is a State, Local Government, or privately controlled asset.

  • We determine local conditions such as the road speed, location of speed limit signs, any conflicting signage requiring concealment, roadway condition and usage, schools, bus stops, driveways, emergency services etc.

  • Once all this information is obtained our professional and accreted design personnel will tailor a Traffic Guidance Scheme specifically for your worksite.

  • The Traffic Guidance Scheme is drafted using the latest planning technology and our expertise, ensuring your Traffic Guidance Schemes that meet all professional and legal standards.
